In 2009, flavored tobacco products were banned by the Family Smoking and Tobacco Prevention Act to discourage youth from smoking. There was one flavor that was exempt – Menthol. Menthol is smoked almost exclusively by African Americans, and African American smokers almost exclusively smoke Menthol flavored cigarettes. Tobacco products are more responsible for the deaths of African Americans than murders, suicides, HIV, and car accidents combined.

Let’s protect future generations from Menthol cigarettes. Flavored nicotine products are preferred by youth, because flavors hide the true harsh nature of nicotine products and in general help harmful substances appear more natural.
