The following are the rules and tips
of the contest. Hope you can read
carefully and enjoy the contest.

Rules

● Videos must include a message or messages that discourage the use, abuse, or misuse of Nicotine, Marijuana, Alcohol, and/or Opioids.

● Videos must include one fact about these substances from Credible Sources

● Videos must include the promotion of one Protective Factor

● Videos may not be more than 2 minutes long.

● Contestants are required to complete the Media Release portion of the entry application form.

● Videos must be submitted as an attachment on the entry application form. 

● Videos must be attached to the form in the MP4 format.

● Captions may not include vulgar language, sexually explicit content, excessive violence, or a favorable view of substance use.

Tips

● In order to get the most likes on the contestants videos posted by HTS2S, contestants should:

  1. Allow HTS2S to post contest videos first and upload their video to their personal page
  2. Post the link to their video on HTS2S s Instagram page and avoid simply reposting
  3. Share the link to their video on HTS2S s Instagram page with friends and family and encourage them to post the link to their personal pages
  4. Contestants should use their personal Instagram accounts to forward their video uploaded by HTS2S to friends and family via Messenger.

● Captions should not have more than 100 words.

● Contestants may include the caption they d like posted with their video in the appropriate field including hashtags.

  1. All captions will have the following hashtags added at the end of each contestants caption: #HTS2S #HenricoVA #OneHenrico #Prevention

● Contestants are encouraged to include the promotion of one of the Seven Strategies for Community Change

● HTS2S will only count the likes that a video gains on the post by HTS2S on HTS2S s Instagram page.

PROVIDING INFORMATION

Educational presentations, workshops or other data presentations (e.g., public announcements, brochures, community meetings or social media).

PROVIDING INFORMATION

Creating opportunities to support people to participate in activities that reduce risk or enhance protection.

MODIFYING/CHANGING POLICY

Formal change in written procedures, by-laws, proclamations, rules or laws with written documentation and/or voting procedures.

CHANGING CONSEQUENCES

Increasing or decreasing the probability of a specific behavior that reduces risk or enhances protection by altering the consequences for performing that behavior.

BUILDING SKILLS

Workshops or other activities designed to increase the skills of participants, members and staff needed to achieve population-level outcomes.

ENHANCING ACCESS

Improving systems and processes to increase the ease, ability and opportunity to utilize those systems and services.

PHYSICAL DESIGN

Changing the physical design or structure of the environment to reduce risk or enhance protection.

PROTECTIVE FACTORS

Here are 12 protective factors that significantly help prevent youth substance use

● Identifying and developing relationship with adults outside of the home, e.g. mentors, positive role models, confidants, etc.

● Identifying and committing to behaviors that support and/or invest in goals

● Identify relationships and/or environments that are safe spaces to express concerns and goals

● Avoiding spaces and activities that make physical harm likely

● Becoming aware of and promoting positive behaviors that are prevalent in the school and/or community

● Advocating for positive change in school and/or community

● Developing skills

● Finding and engaging in a hobby

● Physical exercise, sports, and/or recreation

● Being a part of a team, club, community-based organization, civic group, and/or faith-based organization

● Exploring opportunities within school and/or work

● Setting and investing in academic and/or career goals
